Community, Permanence, and Beauty

Community, Permanence, and Beauty

These are the values we kept in mind as we chose the sites to be depicted in the first calendar produced by the artists of Destination: Art. We wanted to draw out the beauty in the local Torrance landmarks that have endured over time and that define and bring together the Torrance community.  Eleven of the artists from Destination: Art have created original paintings of 13 sites in Torrance which are beautifully reproduced on the pages of the 2016 calendar which will be on sale at Destination: Art's First Anniversary and Holiday Party, November 14 from 5 - 8pm. The original paintings will be unveiled at that time and available for purchase.
Sunset on the Bridge by Catherine Cunningham
By now, many have seen the lovely painting of the Pacific Electric Railway - El Prado Bridge entitled "Sunset on the Bridge"hanging in the the studio of artist Catherine Cunningham at Destination: Art. In fact, this painting graces the cover of the 2016 Calendar, "Community, Permanence, and Beauty," as well as the home page of the Destination: Art website, www.destination-art.net. We chose this painting to symbolize the Community, Permanence, and Beauty that Destination: Art hopes to bring to Torrance just as the bridge itself is a symbol of the City of Torrance. We are fortunate to have the artistic talents of Catherine Cunningham as a part of Destination: Art and are grateful for her coordinating the calendar production.  Please come by Destination: Art to see her painting and we will see you on the 14th of November for calendar sales!
