Highlighting two Gallery Artists

We are happy to highlight the artwork of two artists from our Gallery - Anna Yu and Jean Comings!

Anna Yu primarily paints in the pastel medium. Pastels are pure pigment in stick form and create a very luminous effect on the page.  Although mostly self-taught, Anna has taken workshops through the Pastel Society of Southern California (see www.pastelsocal.com), and she has been a student of Joe Mancuso when he was teaching in Manhattan Beach (see www.mancusofineart.com). Now Joe teaches occasionally at Destination: Art and has a workshop scheduled for September 19 (click here for more info about classes).

Anna Yu shares this about her art:

"When I slow down, I see the purple in the fading sunset, the pink shimmering on the surface of the water, and the bright yellow bursting from the trees.  This is why I like painting so much, so that I may reflect my impressions of nature in my work.  Life is a journey, and I want to capture that journey in my art.  let us slow down and enjoy it. If you feel the same way as I do about life, you can enjoy more of my work at Destination: Art."

We agree!  You must experience Anna's unique perspective and lovely touch for yourself by coming to see the gallery. Whether you’re an art collector or buying art to indulge your personal fancy or as a unique gift, our gallery provides a remarkable selection of fine artwork.

Jean Comings paints in oil, en plein air, i.e., outside on location. Her dreamy views of many Southern California sites have been pleasing South Bay art lovers for many years and we are delighted that her work hangs in the Destination: Art gallery.

Jean Says, "My paintings reflect my interest in the colorful places of our local area. Catalina, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and San Pedro are favorite subjects as well as my 'Beach Peeps' showing fun at local beaches. I try for a loose impressionistic style showing a place you might like to visit.  If you see me out painting with my beach buggy, stop by for a chat!"

You will be inspired by her lovely interpretations of local scenes. Come see for yourself! All of the artwork in the studios and gallery is available for purchase for yourself or for a special gift.   Destination: Art is located at 1815 W. 213th St., #135, Torrance, CA.
Public hours are Th, F, Sa, 11-5, Su noon-4pm.
